McDonald Tax and Wealth Document Deadlines

Individual (April 15th Filing Deadline)

March 25th - Document Due Date

Deadline to provide all tax documents to best ensure filing by tax deadline, April 15th and avoid paying a RUSH fee.

March 26th - April 5th - RUSH Fee Window

If documents are provided during this time frame, or the information provided by the document due date is incomplete, there will be a $500 RUSH fee collected upfront if you wish to have your tax return finalized by the April 15th deadline.

Note: No RUSH fee will apply if you prefer to have your tax return extended.

April 6th - Extension Required

When tax documents are provided after this date, your tax return will be automatically extended with a $200 deposit required. This deposit will be applied against your total fee once your return is finalized and filed.

Business (March 15th Filing Deadline)

February 25th - Document Due Date

Deadline to provide all tax documents and tax ready financial statements to best ensure filing by tax deadline, March 15th and avoid paying a RUSH fee.

February 26th - March 5th - RUSH Fee Window

If documents are provided during this time frame, or the information provided by the document due date is incomplete, there will be a $500 RUSH fee collected upfront if you wish to have your tax return finalized by the March 15th deadline.

March 6th - Extension Required

When tax documents are provided after this date, your tax return will be automatically extended with a $200 deposit required. This deposit will be applied against your total fee once your return is finalized and filed.


2024 IRS Tax Deadlines

January

January 16 - Estimated tax payment for 4th quarter of 2023

January 31 - Form 1099s and Form W-2s due to independent contractors and employees

March

March 15 - Taxes are due for some business types (Partnerships, multi-member LLCs, and S-Corporations)

April

April 1 - First Required minimum distribution (RMD) by individuals who turned 73 in 2023

April 15 - File 2023 individual tax return and pay tax due

- File 2023 C Corporation and trust and estate tax returns and pay tax due

- File Form 4868 to request 6-month income tax return filing extension (payment of tax not extended)

- File Schedule H (1040) and pay employment taxes for household employees (file separately if Form 1040 is not filed)

- Estimated tax payment for 1st quarter of 2024

- Contribute to individual retirement account (IRA) for 2023

- Withdraw excess IRA contributions in 2023 to avoid penalty if filing of form 1040 was not extended

- Contribute to health savings account (HSA) for 2023

- Contribute to solo 401(k) plan or SEP plan for 2023 by self-employed if filing of form 1040 was not extended

- Last day to file 2020 tax return to request unclaimed tax refund for the 2020 tax year

June

June 17 - Second quarter 2024 estimated tax payment due

September

September 16 - Third quarter 2024 estimated tax payment due

- Deadline for extended partnership and S-corporation returns

October

October 15 - Deadline to file your extended 2023 tax return

- Deadline for extended C-corporation returns

December

December 31 - Required minimum distributions have to be taken for individuals age 73 or older by the end of 2024

- Contribution to employer-sponsored retirement plan for 2024 (401(k), 403(b), 457 or federal thrift savings plans)

January

January 15, 2025 - Fourth quarter 2024 estimated tax payment due
